Google Analytics (GA) is another free tool that provides insights into website traffic, user behavior, and conversions.

This guide will walk you through 5 key steps:

  • Setting Up Your GA Account: We’ll guide you through the simple process of creating an account, configuring your property, and installing the tracking code on your website.
  • Analysing Key Reports: Discover how to interpret GA’s reports, including audience overview, acquisition sources, and user behavior data.
  • Refining Your Strategy: Learn how to leverage GA insights to identify high-performing content, optimize underperforming pages, and allocate resources effectively based on traffic sources.

Step 1: Create Your Google Analytics Account

  1. Go to Google Analytics and click “Start Measuring.”
  2. Enter an account name (e.g., your business name) and configure data-sharing settings.
  3. Click “Next” to create a property (a website or app you want to track).

Step 2: Configure Your Property

  1. Enter details like property name, time zone, and currency.
  2. Select your industry category and business size.
  3. Define objectives (e.g., measure traffic or conversions).
  4. Click “Create” to finalize the setup.

Step 3: Install the Tracking Code

  1. After creating a property, GA will generate a Measurement ID (tracking code).
  2. Copy this code from the “Admin > Data Streams” section.
  3. Paste it into your website’s <head> section or use plugins like Google Tag Manager for easier integration.

Step 4: Analyze Reports

  1. Visit the “Reports” section in GA to explore key metrics:
  • Audience Overview: Understand demographics, devices, and locations of visitors.
  • Acquisition Report: See where traffic comes from (e.g., organic search, social media).
  • Behavior Report: Analyze page views, bounce rate, and time spent on pages.
  1. Set up goals in the “Admin > Goals” section to track conversions like form submissions or purchases.

Step 5: Refine Your Strategy

Use GA insights to identify high-performing content, optimize underperforming pages, and allocate resources effectively based on traffic sources.
